Abstract
The rise in the number of unemployed youth during 2008-2009 (to reach a total of 82.7 million) is the largest year-on-year increase in the last 10 years. The Youth Business International (YBI) Network organizations leverage a shared methodology to provide young people with an integrated support package to help them start their own business and create employment. In this report, YBI explores how three leading youth entrepreneurship organizations, Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST), India; Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF), Canada; and Fundacion Impulsar, Argentina, have tailored the YBI approach to best suite local needs and values, including the structure and governance of each organization, as well as its approach to funding and development. They highlight the opportunities and challenges of meeting the needs of young entrepreneurs in different parts of the world, and distill lessons for disseminating best practice.
